The Spartans are excited to announce head coach Matt Michalski is set to extend his coaching position to the 2020 season. Michalski will also be joining the Syracuse Spartans’ board of directors as the 2019 summer season comes to a close.
Michalski was on the coaching staff last season as an assistant to former manager, Brian Burns. The 2018 Spartans fell just short of making the playoffs, but are still in the running this year with 15 wins and 18 losses as the season approaches its end.

Michalski is excited to join the board of directors and continue his coaching career. He said, “This is a step in the right direction for me personally as well as for the Spartans to continue to grow and have a positive impact on the community after 2020. I will be able to alter some things that I think need to be revisited, and push for things that I want the Spartans to represent such as: strong community support, player development, and being a known and respected organization in the league and surrounding areas.” Michalski also mentioned how this is something he has wanted to do for a long time and thinks this opportunity is the best next step for him.
