What to Expect for Opening Day

By Katie Musacchio

SYRACUSE, NEW YORK- Join the Syracuse Spartans at the Make-A-Wish season opener for the NYCBL 2019 season, sponsored by Print Solutions Plus, at OCC on Thursday, June 6.

The Spartans take on the Cortland Crush at 7 p.m. to kick off the season.

What Make-A-Wish Night Means to the Spartans

The Make-A-Wish branch of CNY has been granting wishes to children fighting critical illnesses in 15 CNY counties since 1985. The foundation strives to give hope and strength to Wish-Kids through any means possible. Make-A-Wish believes in the powerful effect wishes have on more than just Wish-Kids and their families. This organization is a means for community members to grow and realize the immense potential that all sponsors, donors, and volunteers have in changing the lives of others. The Syracuse Spartans want to be a part of the rewarding process of making wishes come true. Make-A-Wish is one of the many non-profit organizations the Spartans want to promote and give back to during the 2019 season and throughout NYCBL seasons to come.

What to Expect

Print Solutions Plus and Make-A-Wish Central New York will both have representatives in attendance on Thursday night. Owner of Print Solutions Plus, Darren Petragnani, and Wish-Kid, Noah Saterly, will be throwing the first pitch of the game for the Spartans. The National Anthem will be played on the trumpet by Spartans’ President JJ Potrikus. The game will be available for streaming through the Amazon Fire Stick and Roku devices.

The game’s 50-50 raffle proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Make-A-Wish affiliates get into Thursday night’s game for $1 while all other Spartans’ fans must pay $4 at the door.

Weather forecasts predict clear skies and comfortable temperatures by the first pitch. As of now, it’s perfect weather for a baseball game.

Who’s Ready to Play Ball?

The Spartans held their second practice of the season on Tuesday, June 3 where coaches and players geared up for Thursday’s big night both physically and mentally. Thursday at 7pm marks the beginning of another fun and rewarding season for the Syracuse Spartans. Don’t miss out, head on over to OCC and enjoy the show!
