ROCHESTER, NY – It was a successful road trip for the Spartans, as they take both double header matchups against the Rochester Ridgemen. In game one, the Spartans the first game 10-9, followed by a 4-3 victory in game two.

David Bedrosian continues to start his Spartans summer hot, as he collected a three-run triple back in the bottom of the second. Stephen Karis collected a two-run double, with Jordan Dickson and Caleb Millikan each having RBI’s, as well.

Andrew Case took the mound in game one, starting off the game with four and a third innings of perfect baseball. The Spartans took a 9-0 lead into the sixth, and that is when things got crazy. Rochester pushed across five in the sixth, centered around a three-run home run by Cooper Jauz.

An insurance run was added in the seventh when Danny Cantor scored the 10th run of the ballgame to make it 10-5 Spartans.

Things came crashing down in the latter part of game one, with the Ridgemen pulling within one run with four runs scored in the bottom of the seventh. CJ Roulo was able to come in and shut things down, earning his second save of the summer to give the Spartans a win.

Case ended with five and a third innings, with three earned runs and eight strikeouts, collecting his first win as a starter this summer.

The second game of the doubleheader started with a Ridgemen run in the bottom of the first, giving them their first lead of the afternoon. Following the frame, Caleb Millikan hit an inside-the-park homerun to give the Spartans a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second. Both teams traded punches with two runs each in the fifth, pushing the score to 4-3 Spartans.

Jordan Dickson led the offensive punch with a 3-4 showing with three singles. Kyle Platt went 2-3, scoring a run, and Grant Shepherd collected a two-run double to add to his team-leading RBI total, while also throwing four innings in his first start on the mound.

The game tightened up towards the end. Shepherd was relieved by Finn Doherty, and Doherty tapped into a different level. He ended up picking up the win with three innings, one hit, one walk and six strikeouts. In the sixth, he collected back-to-back-to-back strikeouts, as well as two in the bottom of the seventh to put the game away.
