The Syracuse Spartans fell victim to the mercy run-rule for the second time this season as the Rochester Ridgemen took a 12-2 win at Basket Road Field.

The Spartans struck first in the top of the first inning. After a Joe Wike triple, a Matt Alexander RBI single plated him for the first run. Yoon Chae followed with an RBI single of his own to give the Spartans an early 2-0 lead.

Unfortunately for the Spartans, the Ridgemen controlled the game the rest of the way. Rochester scored six runs in the first, three runs in the fifth and single runs in the second, third and sixth innings to take a 12-2 lead and activate the 10-run mercy rule.

The Spartans are back in action after the All-Star break at home on Wednesday, July 10 against the Sherrill Silversmiths. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
