MARCELLUS, N.Y. – The Syracuse Spartans hosted their third annual golf outing at the Sunset Ridge Golf Club on July 9, 2023. There were over 60 golfers that registered for the course, including Spartans players, alums, sponsors, staff and friends of the Spartans. Once the play concluded, all players indulged in a delicious buffet at the main tavern. In addition, the Spartans raffled off various prizes, such as Spartans gear, ticket packages for the Syracuse Crunch and Syracuse Mets, Patrick Corbin signed baseball and cleats, and drinks. The day was filled with competitive action and many fun times on the course.

On the course, Brian Sevey, Rob Matson, Rob DeMass and Rich Allen won the tournament with a combined score of -14, taking the tiebreaker on a lower back nine tally. Matt Moryl made a hole-in-one on the par-3, 12th hole. Additionally, Moryl landed closest to the pin on hole 3. Spartans President J.J. Potrikus blasted the longest drive of any participant on hole 14, while Michael Giltner won the closest-to-the-line challenge on the ninth hole.

Raffled items included Spartans apparel and autographed memorabilia from Clay native and Washington Nationals pitcher Patrick Corbin.

Spartans players who golfed included Brendan Flynn, Vince Gamberdella, Patrick May, Luke Boule, Gavin Miller, Casey Vaughn, Robert Johnston and Creighton Wesson. The Spartans would like to thank everyone for coming out to this year’s event.
