The Syracuse Spartans used 16 hits, five of which went for extra bases, to take a 14-6 win against the Cortland Crush.

Cortland grabbed an early lead with a single run in the first inning. The Spartans kickstarted the offense in the fourth with a two-run home run from Chaz Anthony. Matt Alexander added another run in the inning with a RBI single to give Syracuse a 3-1 lead.

The Crush fired back with three runs in the fourth inning, but that’s when the Spartans took control of the game. After a RBI single from Andrew An, Braden Seeber arrived with a three-run home run to put Syracuse back in front for good. Gibby Sullivan followed that up with a three-run double, and An completed the fifth with his second RBI single to complete an eight-run Spartans frame.

Three more Spartans runs came in the sixth inning off a two-run double from Seeber and a Cortland error. The Crush scored two runs in the sixth and two runs in the seventh, but it was too late. The game was called off after the seventh inning due to darkness.

The next Spartans game is an away contest at the Rochester Ridgemen on Saturday, July 6. First pitch is set for 6:00 pm. The next Spartans home game is at OCC against the Sherrill Silversmiths on Wednesday, July 10. First pitch is set for 7:00 pm.
